According to the Kiska Sea FB page, yesterday, Eric Eders was tragically lost to the Bering Sea. Here is a link that has been placed on their FB page to help with donations to his family and some pictures of him. www.gofundme.com/7ic70wThis is sad news.

Thanks for finding and posting this, svtubamom. I'm going to keep it pinned to the top of this sub forum for a bit. Let it get as much exposure as possible since we will be seeing an influx of readers as we get closer to the season premiere. Hopefully the extra traffic will click on the gofundme site and help add to the donations.
So tragic.

Thank you Maribegood. I have since seen this information at several other places. I still "follow" the Kiska Sea on FB.
So tragic. I wonder if DC will mention this?

I hope they will, it would be nice of them to put together a little video montage tribute.

How sad. His poor family. Sometimes it is easy to forget how dangerous a job crabbing is. Then something like this happens and it jolts you back to reality.

let's not forget that it's not just crabbing that can be dangerous. Eric was not crabbing, but on the Seeker, which I believe is a dragger. Any commercial fishing in any waters can be deadly.

The Bering Sea is not kind regardless of what you're doing out there, that is for sure.
