Since he is not an example of a responsible captain, he should get booted off DC and given his own show on the Oprah network. Could call it "Bet you can't watch me for ten minutes" He has no business in the same company as our captains ,let alone the same network. If he has a following that is big enough for the rest of us to be subjected to those segments then he Should be able to float his own show. Maybe use it to fix his mess and help him make something of himself that his dad would be proud of. I know the other captains wish him well , but a punk in charge of human lives is just irresponsible and a costly way to get to manhood.Let him take his boys to men show and get on with it.

AMEN! but not even sure that he should be on Oprah network, I think he is too sleazy for even that network. (even if Discovery is still part owner)

Elliott grosses me out. The man is incapable of keeping his tongue in his mouth.

I was so traumatized watching him do that yesterday that I needed a hug.

After a restless night's sleep, plagued with nightmares about Elliot's tongue, I woke up and had a strange thought that the doctor that visited the ship wasn't a real doctor but just someone Elliot hired to pretend to be a doctor so he could have an excuse to lie around in bed with his girlfriend for a few more days. I have no idea where this idea came from but something smelled bad about the whole situation. If Elliot was really that bad off, why didn't he go to the clinic? And what kind of Dutch Harbor doctor has free time to make a boat call for a kidney/bladder infection when the man is probably inundated with crushed fingers and stitches? I refused to re-watch that scene with a scrutinizing eye because the first time around was bad enough but I'm curious for anyone else's thoughts.

I think the girl brought him dope and he was too whacked out to work. The whole thing stunk. No lab tests , no pee test , and the doctor had a bottle of pills with a liable printed on it in his pocket. Doctors walk around all the time giving out pills from their pockets ...... horse manure. You cannot tell me any of it as real. The clinic guy was probably Elliot's buddy helping him make a cover story for the show. Really this is so sick .They all looked high to me , and not at all like they had been messing around.

I am no doctor, but his symptoms sound like a urinary tract/kidney infection. None of it made sense to me; he brings his new girlfriend aboard, you hear about some of the other boats, and then he is laying in his bunk as sick as a dog.

That is probably the easiest illness he could come up with. It could have been a kidney stone or several different kinds of infections or the clap. But no test was done so I call bull. If the clinic makes house calls then why doesnt any other boat get a physician to come aboard? He could not go to the real clinic because he was not sick , and he was high.

I think that plot is baloney. I was born and raised in Alaska. I've lived in both rural and urban communities, and none of the doctors made house calls. Some might have for very close friends or family, even then it was unheard of here. In 2014 house calls in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska are unheard of. I doubt the little town of Dutch Harbor would be more progressive. Who knows though, it could be a traveling doctor, or a doctor who also happens to fish. I find it unlikely and unbelievable. Weird idea if it was scripted!

We should bombard Facebook DC when the show is on with what we think of the new format of the show. No more Smelliottt!

I finally got to watch the entire episode yesterday (I had fallen asleep watching DC last Tuesday - which shows how exciting the show was). Infections of the kidney are actually very serious and can lead to kidney failure or death if not addressed in timely fashion. Victims suffer from very high fevers and often have to be hospitalized. I think Elliot's girlfriend called a doctor because he refused to see one - at least that was the impression I got. Elliot looked sick to me - he was sweating and appeared pale. I think this was the real deal

I have had UTI and a kidney infection. Horrible pain and discomfort! When the infection goes to the kidneys it can be very serious, even fatal as bentwillow stated. Elliot is very lucky that a doctor was around. All of the small villages in Alaska have health aids to take care of small, usually non-complicated issues: cuts, minor burns, concussions, strep throat, ear infections. When the problem is more complex, which many times is the case, the patient will be flown or medi-vaced into Anchorage to be seen by a doctor or specialist. There are doctors that travel to the villages periodically, but usually the small community is without a doctor. Dutch Harbor may be different because there are fishermen in and out of town, and where there are fishermen there are accidents and injuries.

I remember having a UTI as a teenager. The pain is excruciating and to make things worse my mother accused me of being promiscuous..called it the "honeymooners disease" I was very confused by that at the time. I agree Elliot did look really sick .Not sure how the Dr. knew what pills to bring him or if he had any med allergies . Maybe it was something for symptom relief like Pyridium. Either way the housecall part seemed super staged.

They had emmy nominations before July 8 episode obviously. I am not watching it tues but me and a couple hundred others will be on their facebook page bombarding the Discovery channel with " Get rid of Smelliott" Do you think any of us will be on the bottom of the screens comments? What would be a short ,to the point phrase to use?

How about "Elliott embodies the Adage that you're only Young Once, but you can be Immature Forever"?

It just might work. I've been told that a Mega-Petition submitted by Wizard fans ended Keith's being portrayed as a cross between Captain Bligh and Jack Nicholson's character from "The Shining",

I'm no fan of Elliott either. I abhor his habits, his values, and most of all that fingernails-on-a-blackboard whiny voice of his. But Discovery doesn't CARE if you "mute" your TV when he's on screen, or just close your eyes and stuff Lima Beans in your ears. You're still "tuned" to DC, aren't you?

I sincerely will have to stop watching this show if they do not stop with the Elliott crap. Him making out with that girl is just too gross. There's only so much a human can stand.

I find my self reading while DC is on, looking up when I hear something interesting. I know I am missing stuff, but I just can't watch Elliott. I agree - I find myself folding laundry or doing other things while certain people/boats are on...but there is something about the darn show that brings an inexplicable comfort to me - it's the familiar, Tuesday night background noise of my life I've come to love in the last ten years. I've spent Memorial Day Marathons with those fishermen and my own family, June vacations to the beach where I've come back from a night stroll on the boardwalk and there was Edgar, complaining about Sig, ungodly 100 degree July heat waves and yet I still get a chill watching the boats become encased in ice. Each year, in April, it's like the start of a family reunion and each year, in August, it's a sad goodbye - my question/concern is: when will be the LAST goodbye? We haven't really talked about it much but, now that we are at the decade mark, how much more life does this show have? AND , if the spin-off show (which there will eventually be) is about Elliot's dysfunctional love life, they can count me out.

I agree with you littleleaf, on how DC has become part of the rhythm of my year. It made me sad to intentionally not watch the Women Drivers episode after reading all the comments. Whenever I had missed an episode I made it a high priority to watch it ASAP. Unfortuntaely the night Women Drivers aired happened to be my birthday and my family felt the need to celebrate. Or maybe it was a fortunate thing so I didn't have to subject myself to the carnage.
This board has occasionally discussed DC jumping the shark and I'm afraid it is in dangerous waters now, with the recent episodes. I did, however, thoroughly enjoy the Super Bowl episode, with the exception of Elliott et al.

So I thought I would let everyone know how the Facebook thing went. As far as the bait, People were posting and it went on the board but not on the air. When the show was on, The posts were so bad about him, That only CM posts were on the air. When posts were made on the main FB page they were deleted within seconds.Someone even commented they were seeing posts on the air that weren't on the thread. So my experiment was not sucessful....

Scott heard me laughing out loud a few times at the computer. He wanted to know what was so funny, along with the occasional,"Eeeww!" I let him read some of the Elliot threads. We record DC episodes on our DVR, and he wanted to see what Elliot was doing with his tongue. GROSS! Scott has worked in the law enforcement field for a number of years. He thinks that his lip licking is a tick that he picked up during his drug using days. He thinks that even if he is clean, he still has that habit or tick.
