So many members and guests have this in their profile - I'd really love to read their stories and what it's like to be doing that. What kind of job? What response do you get? Who do you run into? And "How does it FEEL"?? Are any of you willing to do this? I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Eyes and toes, too.

Mari can answer this for sure..but I always thought "walking the docks for a job" had to do with being new to this board. With more posts you become "greenhorn" then fullshare etc..

Yes, people start out as Greenhorns, then walking the docks, then full share - it only has to do with number of posts, and happens automatically.

What anitalalouise and greatlakesgirl said. Though maybe the boz or Kingcove could actually tell us what walking on the docks looking for a job is like in real life, as they have both fished commercially. I'm also thinking of making "Running Robots From Seattle" a category.

(Sorry, not suitable for mention on a Family Board.) I too was wondering what all these unemployed Fishermen were doing here...until I became one myself!

Darianagle - you sound like you might be a candidate for telling us what it's like. How about doing that? If it would be too personal just ignore me!

Folks, I had no idea that "Walking the docks for a job" was a category! All this time I've been wanting to hear their stories! Just goes to show how silly I can be. All this time! Oh well, time for more coffee - maybe that will help. I'll put some cocoa in it.

Hate it when memory doesn't want to work

Today I had a severe episode of CRS. Had a long list of errands and left the house without my wallet. Had enough money in my purse to stop for coffee, then went home and spent the day weeding the garden.

The worst is when I dial someone on the phone and then cannot remember who I am calling.

I'd just "tarped" our little Boston Whaler at the finger docks, and was walking toward the outer "Tee" to chat with one of the boatwives who was tidying up a 50-foot "Sunrunner" cruiser. I was waving to my friend and not paying attention to where I was putting my feet. My left leg slipped down between two 20-foot sections of floating dock, right up to just above the knee. I started screaming, and boaters came rushing from every part of the Marina, including the clubhouse -- I "felt" every step they took just getting to me! .I was eventually freed, with the help of planks and pry bars, only about 5 minutes before two huge paddlewheel excursion boats came churning down the river, rocking and thrashing the daylights out of our docks and the boats moored alongside of them. That left knee still "twinges" whenever a weather front moves through!
Moral: When "Walking the Docks" --WATCH YOUR STEP!!!

The worst is when I dial someone on the phone and then cannot remember who I am calling. Also, walking into a room and forgetting why you walked in there to begin with. Or going to the fridge. :-) I hate CRS! happens much more now than a few years ago.

Can't Remember Shit aka CRS Very Similar in outward manifestation to CRAFT -- "Can't Remember A *Bleeping* Thing!"

Good to know I'm not alone with this. It's so embarrassing and infuriating. CRS will definitely become part of my inner and outer vocabulary! See, two things I've learned from this thread already! That alone makes it worth making a fool of myself. It's sometimes worth it - after all, I've made a fool of myself before and I survived so what the h*ll!

Darianagle - thanks for CRAFT, another thing I've learned. Of course your post qualifies - post more!
