Jess,
Please use Elliot's name, and not the "Idiot Mess" moniker, when posting. Elliot may be a drug addict with issues, but he is still a human being with a given name. You have good points you're trying to make, but the name calling distracts from your bigger point.

Could you use everyone's real name, Jess? I can hardly understand who you're talking about in that second post.

Admin:
No problem and adhere to your requests regarding name calling. I am in no way trashing him(Elliott) on his drug or other substance abuse issues, only requesting Disco or his handlers to set the record straight on his re-entry back to rehab and if he actually coming back in season 11. Yes, if Disco's new CEO made it clear earlier this month Jan. 2015, that "Disco" will be transparent/truthful and factual" then I would start watching their programs again. But, King Cove made a good point regarding contractually obligations from Jake Anderson and Elliott, meaning they cannot answer or comment on the program(s)they are under contract. Which means, ratings because everyone will have too watch to see if these non reality stars are on season 11, which again the CEO of Disco contradicts himself saying their...transparent...

Toad Hoffturd = Todd Hoffman, one of the Big Honchos on "Gold Rush". Last season he and his team of Unemployed Diggers came up "Snake Eyes" in South America and he is desperate to redeem himself and put a headlock on the American Dream. (Kind of resembles Keith Colburn in his temper and his "I'm the Captain" Management style.)
You mean those grifters have been taking OUR GOLD without following Our Rules? Where's Dudley Do-Right when you really need him?

darianagle: Did you know that Todd Hoffman has a vested interest in Gold Rush? It is claimed that he actually came up with the premise for the series. The fact that we have no idea as to his previous employment is irrelevant. Jack Hoffman has been portrayed as a part-time gold miner. Sure--they have failed for the most part in the effort to get the gold. I have no idea how they got any funding to go to South America. I surely would not have done that. You stay where the gold is , because you can. Deadliest Catch is what it is. Started off as a documentary about the industry. Glad we have a chance to see the fishermen doing this deadly job. How they interact with one another is vital to the story line. Jake Anderson will reach his goals in life as will Scot Hillstrand. They are not "entitled" to move up - they have to earn it. Elliot is a mess and we can only hope he straightens himself out. There is good reason if the family actually bought the Saga. And what has become of Jake Harris - time will tell us. Discovery like other networks has a lot of boilerplate language in contracts with the people we see on shows. Correct to assume that ratings mean more than what the people are really like off-camera.
Just my thoughts for the day.

It amazes me that after all these years with the staging, false stories and bs that any Captain agrees to be on DC. I admire the captains that refuse to have anything to do with them and go and fish as they always have. Obviously, the captains/boats on the show know how things go having chosen to be filmed. You would think after Elliott's first season on the show with all the bad publicity and the fiasco last year he would say "no more". Still, he chose to be filmed again for King Crabs. It never ceases to amaze me. The show has become a "bread winner" for all the captains. All of them, including Elliott, have become "celebrities" and enjoy the gravy train the show has provided. How much do we all wanna bet we have not seen the last of Elliott. That said, I do hope he cleans himself up for his children's sake.

Here's something to think about--Is re-enacting bad? Consider that most of the tape (yes tape) that is not seen is not needed for a specific story line. For example: How did Keith get the knock on his head recorded when he went under the Wizard? Disco has a camera crew and diver available while taping each of the boats. True, there is one boat in particular that is chartered for the season just for such things. I suspect there are several others or they have the logistics set so that editing is easier. Then there is the time that Jake A was evacuated off the Northwestern to go home. You can be sure that was carefully planned by Sig as well as Disco so as to not endanger Jake beyond what would be his comfort zone. The water as we have seen from 1 particular rescue is frighteningly cold. I personally applaud Elliott for the rescue effort he and the Saga crew performed. They were is a very bad place and got the other crew off safely-do you really think that was "staged" for our/the audiences benefit.
As to Elliott being a potty-mouth, I agree completely. The fact that he is among a group of addicts is also not surprising. If he can get his act where it really needs to be he will do well in the long run. As to "celebrity" Sig has proven what can happen better than many others. He is a good ambassador for the industry as is Keith. They do good things overall and that is what is important. Remember that the cutting room is just that. The producers have more material than they can possibly stitch together for the number of episodes that will be aired. How they decide to present the season depends on a number of factors (already discussed in this and other threads). I will not forget what Phil said about telling the whole story. The hospital scenes are edited but with respect to the subjects. That is not staging.
For those wondering about mechanical failures-they can be staged, but I would seriously doubt a crab boat several hundred miles from shore would participate in such. Just more food for thought

"Staging" is a crucial part of any docudrama be it on land, sea or in the air. How can we tell "smoke" from steam or dry-ice generated "fog"? Or tell whether someone is "torque-ing" a bolt that hasn't come loose at all? When you see a crewman flipping an electrical switch in an engine room already full of supposedly "highly explosive" fumes, you really begin to wonder. "Re-enacting", by definition, implies that a situation did in fact actually happen exactly as portrayed. It isn't "making up" a scenario that "might" have been.
"Celebrity Sig" did the industry no favors when he agreed to market illegally-caught Russian Crab under his and the Northwestern's banners -- a move that reportedly infuriated both Phil and the Hillstrands.

darianagle: I do not disagree with your assessment of what Sig did with the crab. I might note that I and many others were duped about the crab cakes the Hillstrand's promoted on QVC. Yes-I bought them. I talked directly with the processor in Maryland and learned that only a small fraction of the recipe used had anything to do with the brothers. I know Maryland crab cakes. These were very good but were not truly Alaskan (only a tiny fraction).
As to highly combustible materials in the engine room, I seriously doubt that the Coast Guard would permit anything that would be a source of ignition. Are the switches fully enclosed? We don't know. Demonstrating how something is done is re-enacting if you will. Docking the boats the way we see them coming in is a well planned exercise. Otherwise the camera crew could never get off the vessel to record the event. To me there is no harm in that. Do you really think that the Northwestern did not suffer from a serious electrical problem? Edgar is an excellent engineer and did the right things. I do find it interesting that a solenoid valve that seems specific to each boat might be available on another one/but they could also have commonality too. The fact that Edgar "McIvered" their valve assembly may in part be theatrics. If you know anything about high-pressure hydraulics then you know that this fix only works for low pressure systems if at all. Here is a bit of reality. How many of the boats have a partner boat close by? For that matter a competitor within hailing range? Think Mike Wilson just happens to be that close. We do see shots of the specific boat and others in the distance but are told nothing about that. Could it be that Elliott and his short term partner (remember that deal) were staged. Possible as a story line. Also consider the 2 competing egos involved. Do you really think the Hillstrand family was paid/compensated by Discovery to do a near $1 Million refit of the Time Bandit. I enjoyed seeing what they did and the things that both worked and went wrong. Have you seen the pictures of the Wizard while she was in drydock? Great chance to look at a repurposed boat. These are not fake things. Just more of my 2 cents
-30- The end for me on this one

As most of you know,I often accuse DC of editing for drama. I know there are a lot of re-enactments, and understand the need for those. I think they take real life events, then embellish the story and edit to back up the embellishments. Often the embellishments include statements that indicate there are dangers involved, but I think the dangers are often highly exaggerated.
But I don't think any of the skippers would allow DC to stage something that puts anyone in real danger. For that matter I don't have any indications that would tend to do so.
As for whether a boat may or may not be in an area to help when someone is in trouble, remember there are 80 or 90 boats in the fleet, and most of those guys have known each other for many years. They are bound to cross paths and fish within sight of each other now and then. There is sort of a brotherhood among them, and any of them will help out anyone who may be in trouble whether or not they are partners or friends.
In Mike Wilson's case,I happen to know that he is one guy that carries more spare parts than he will ever need, and he will always help out someone who may need them.

Crabber; Your correct that majority of these captains want the extra "coin' to help cover the costs of running the vessel. The point I'm trying to make yo disco is that if you employees Elliot and he says he going to "put a bullet in some guys head in Seattle for banging his so called gf", how can disco allow him for saying that comment let alone putting it on the episode...!!! I don't about the US but here in Canada, you make a threat like that, let alone on national tv, the local law enforcement will be paying you a visit real quick. So how does disco, think this is acceptable for an employee, let alone his 16 year old immature behaviour...!!! Like I said before, the gold rush gossip page has "outed" the show and disco producer Christo doyle is raging mad that this fb group of real actually Canadian miners have caught them. If Elliott, truly behaves like he does then he needs serious help and needs to stop blaming on the disco producers...!! If he acts like that on the show then he likes exactly the same in real life...!!

King Cove, you can check previously TV. They may have something on the show. Sorry, but I don't know of any other sites. I don't watch Gold Rush but I would guess a lot of people on this board can help.

King Cove:
The Gold Rush fb board I am referring too is; FB gold rush gossip. This board is maintained by 3-4 US mining engineers/geologists from the US, not sure what state but I think their out of Oregon. They are very critical of this show and the producer Christo Doyle, they have exposed several scripted bs issues and presented them to OSHA/mining regular, which have in turn investigated and fined Disco for the nonsense. The producer Doyle tries desperately to give some lame excuse for the fines and say it was "no big deal" on his twit account when called out.

The reason I chose Jess Behring, is this is the last gf Elliott had on his boat, which she caused all the cooking problems. If people don't remember Elliott's other Lacey, charged him with domestic violence for nearly throwing her out the window of her Seattle apartment back in the mid 2000. Interesting Jessica Behring, has closed all her social media profiles and doesn't not have anything to do with Elliot anymore from her last posts from some of her profiles she mentions. She finally realized what a complete immature person Elliott is and his personality disorder, so she wised up and left him, smart girl, finally.

Jessica Behring? Must to related to Sally Beauforte and Carrie Bahrents.... Seriously with people like Dakota Fred Hurt and David Zielinski (the guy with the maimed hand) coming forward, Disco is terrified that E.N., being the loose cannon that he is, will spill the beans about what REALLY goes into the making of DC, and is anxious to keep him "under contract"?

DA; Yes, I think that's pribably a good thought because he is such a "lose cannon" and you know he can't be trusted, period. The quote he loves to always tell us, "I own a million dollar vessel, and f u all you haters".... Well this useless captain, doesn't own the boat, I recall some of the other captains telling him this and to stop telling viewers you own the boat...yes maybe once the bank is paid off...he might own it, finally but that along ways away..! Elliott, you don't own the boat until the last payment is made. Have you made that last payment yet...we didn't think so..!

I haven't made the last mortgage payment on my house, but I still say I own it. So does everyone else who carries a mortgage on a piece of property. I don't understand the remark the other captains made to Elliot. I would bet real money the brothers Hillstrand referred to themselves as boat owners while they still owed their father money for the TB.
Granted, Elliot is a loose canon, but so far the only thing we know for sure is that someone else is running the boat for Opies. They don't need to keep him under contract. His past contracts would have all had confidentiality agreements he will never be able to break without serious legal ramifications.

Question: How binding are those contracts if a character quits or is dismissed from the show? David Zielinski's lawsuit says some pretty unflattering things about the producers of DC, as does Fred Hurt's diatribe against Discovery re "Gold Rush". Neither seems worried about "gag orders"....Hmmm.

darianagle - A very interesting question..... I have also wondered the same thing. You never hear any of the former captains/crews from the show saying anything. When you think about the number of boats that have come and gone that is quite a few people. How long are they binding contracts? Are they "forever" or just for a certain period of time ?

Elliott Neese stated on his twitter here : twitter.com/CaptElliott that he was leaving for Mexico in 2 days on Friday 30th January 2015 meaning he would have left for Mexico for his Fishing and Vacation on Sunday 1st February 2015 { DC Fan '' @cfly0423 '' on twitter asked him if he was going fishing or vacation to Mexico on twitter on Friday 30th January 2015 and he replied back to her '' both '' } Elliott is NOT in Rehab , he's on Vacation . number 2 Shannon { either his Old or Current Publist } revealed on his old F/V Saga Facebook Page back on 1st January 2015 that she was instructed to close down and delete all Saga related Pages from Facebook & Twitter Although her personal preference would have been to explain Elliott Neese's departure from the show to the fans, however her requests to Discovery and Original Productions for direction in what she was or wasn't allowed to share with the fans were ignored by Deadliest Catch & Original Productions. you can see that post here : www.facebook.com/CaptainElliottNeese

When you think about the number of boats that have come and gone that is quite a few people. How long are they binding contracts? Are they "forever" or just for a certain period of time ? Generally those contracts are written up in "forever" terms, and are binding even after the "talent" is dismissed. That is the reason you don't have huge tell-alls by former captains and/or camera crews. Everyone, from the people being filmed to the crews who do the filming, is put under contract to prevent them from spilling in public. Not sure what will happen with the 2 cases above, but I am VERY INTERESTED to see how DC is going to handle them. Discovery Communications has not hesitated unleashing its lawyers in the past to get someone back in line. Zielinski is not suing Discovery, he is suing the business corporation the TB uses to conduct business. The worst thing he is saying about Disco is that their presence is a factor in the Hillstrands carrying and using fireworks on the ship, because they want something interesting to film. His suit does not give away upcoming content or production secrets, so there may be no violation of the contract he signed.

I can't help thinking that a Bombshell "tell all" by a popular used (and abused) Non-Reality Star just might set up a "David and Goliath" scenario that Disco would want to avoid at all costs!. As you say, it would be "Very Interesting"!

Crabber; Yes, your right that many people despise the immature captain of the saga...(what a pathetic name for a f/v)and disco doesn't listen or even contest any of these comments on him. I recall one US fan back in "13, suggested someone should go to the Discovery Channel head office in Los angeles and demand to speak with the producer of this and other disco programs. As well, one fan said people should protest outside their office. Can someone explain why Elliott was allowed to make a violent threat to kill someone on national tv...and disco allowed for this comment to be aired..!!!!..?? Oh wait, let me guess, it's all for ratings...again is this proper sensible television that FCC allows to be aired..? Well, I guess some American could make a threat against the head office of discovery channel and go "postal" if that's the case....? Does Elliott read these boards, probably not...but some of his friends probably do and pass on the comments. Yes, one of these reality shows non stars needs to rip up the contract after they leave and not worry about disco lawyers and spill the beans once and for all on %100 percent of all disco fake&scripted shows...including deadliest catch...!!!

Here in Canadia, "uttering threats" to cause bodily harm constitute a Criminal Offense. A threat doesn't have to be communicated directly to the person it was aimed at. "Death threats" can get you up to 5 years in jail if judge and jury find you were a) sober at the time and b) meant every word. Dudley would have had the cuffs out before you could say "Kuujjuarapik".**
The DC Captains used to be considered "Role Models", once. I guess E.N, can forget about getting his picture on the Wheaties Box....
