A license is not required to run the Time Bandit. Is he going to work elsewhere?

Why is a license not required? Does it have to do with boat length? Even so, would insurance rates be lower for the TB if he captained her and had a license? I know next to nothing about the industry. I do like to eat all types of fish and shellfish, however, and know that is not an easy way to earn a living.

I believe it has to do with tonnage, and a license is required for boats over 100 tons. I don't know anything about insurance rates, but believe that if they were less if one had a license more skippers would be licensed.

Well, alright. I will reluctantly acknowledge that he deserves congratulations. I've thoroughly disliked him right from the start, and nothing since has changed my mind. To tell you the truth, I never thought he had the smarts. I'm glad for him that I was wrong! Well done, Scotty.

I agree, Scotty had not impressed me when he was first seen on the TB. As it is not one of my favorite boats, I tend not to pay close attention when it's on. That being said, I don't recall many recent scenes of him being a jerk. If he has made a committment to fishing in order to support his family, I salute him for that.

I see this as a sign of maturity for Scott Hilstrand. He has been seen more in the background this past season which presented a better image. It appears he is preparing for the future when he will captain the boat. There doesn't appear to be another family member who has shown any interest in the future of the TB so I am sure this is a relief to his dad and Andy.
