I was wondering who Marlon Perkins was. We watched Wild Kingdom when I was small too. My Dad loved the show. I loved how Marlin would always send Jim into the dangerous animal situation while he stood back and watched. "And now Jim will poke the crocodile with a stick to see if it's awake..."

"Reality TV Personality" obviously refers to his on screen personality, and his real life behaviour isn't neccessarily relevant for that title.
Besides, I can't really see that it's an honour to win that. The most memorable people on reality TV are usually the villains or lunatics. For example, I would hate to work for Phil's competitor Gordon Ramsey, or even to have him as my neighbour. Donald Trump is also obviously a Great Reality TV Personality, but I want to stay as far away from him as possible.

Or just sit down and have a beer and a chat. Such an interesting man. I think if you look at the whole thing it has to be Mike Wade. After all, Deadliest Catch wouldn't even be on TV if not for Mike. Neither would a hundred other shows. He changed how people thought about reality TV, for good and bad.

For those who haven't seen "River Monsters", or "Jungle Hooks"** here are some "Crib Notes" on Jeremy:
Jeremy Wade (born 1953) is a biologist, extreme angler and writer specializing in travel and natural history. Having grown up in rural Suffolk in the United Kingdom, he studied zoology at Bristol University and went on to teach biology at a grammar school in Kent.
He has made fishing expeditions to places as far-flung as Southeast Asia, both Congo Republics (he speaks fluent French), Russia, Mongolia, India, South Africa, and the Amazon. During these journeys he has caught malaria, been arrested for spying, narrowly escaped drowning and survived a plane crash. In between, he has worked as a tour leader, art tutor, translator (Portuguese-English), public relations consultant, dishwasher (!), and newspaper reporter.
An "interesting Man", Indeed!
***Episodes of both are available on YouTube.

The reason I picked Mike Rowe was because of his work on Dirty Jobs. I may be loco, but I think Dirty Jobs was the closest thing to real "reality" TV there was.

You can't get more "real" than worm-farming, sewer diving, cleaning zoo enclosures and tarring the ropes on a tall ship. The people he introduced us to were fantastic! You got entertained and "educated" at the same time. Truly "TV Worth While"!!

How about the King Cove Corporation bar any time next week? It's currently the ony bar in town and is run by the King Cove Native Corporation.
My wife will be in town on Monday, she could join us!
I could show you where Wild Bill was sitting when DC filmed him in that bar and told us that he was in Dutch Harbor!
Seriously,if you're ever in the Seattle area,we could make it happen.

I go to Seattle 2 or 3 times a year as both my children have relocated there. Gee, it must have been something I said for them to decamp to the other side of the country.

Well, now that would be a bit troubling. If my kids have to be far away, I am glad they are in Seattle. We love visiting, such a vibrant place. Definitely better job prospects than here in upstate NY.

Jackson, SC. My cousin worked at the school were the heavy vehicles were located (where the tire fell). It was hot as blazes when he was here.

She's living alone in North Carolina by choice. I happen to believe that both moved across the country for a reason. Oh well, I'm just the daughter in law, what do I know? Sarcastically! I agree witn the comments about King Cove. I was born and raised in Alaska, but have never been to the Aluetion Chain. One of these days. My father's been to: Cold Bay, Unalaska, and Dutch Harbor. He was in route to Adak, but bad weather got in the way. I always love to hear fishing stories.

Oh Joy!!! Next Season Jeremy will be up here fishing for Muskellunge** in an episode called "Canadian Horror".
**A.K.A. "Muskies". The name in French means "Stretch-Face" and in Algonquin, "Really REALLY Ugly Pike."
