Very sad. Death at sea is always tragic, but all the worse when it could have been avoided.

This list has been quiet for so long that I wasn't sure anyone was left. It was refreshing to get even this tragic post. One would assume that every captain of every ship would be carrying out drills to insure the safety of the people on board. In fact, I thought it was required. There seems to be blame all around in this tragedy.

There seems to be blame all around in this tragedy. There has not been a lot to talk about lately. I still check regularly, but have not had much to contribute recently. Captain's are supposed to conduct safety drills, but in my experience, I've never seen it happen on relatively short trips. Often in bad weather we use fishing boats to transport people between King Cove and Cold Bay, and have never seen a safety drill. I can't say whether they do it with their regular crew on fishing trips.
