My problem with Mandy is she was not by any stretch of the imagination a greenhorn. She was the captain's daughter. Plus that whole side-story of if Sig did not let her on the Northwestern she would go out on another boat - no way in hell another boat would have hired her. Mandy is no more a greenhorn than Sig Edgar or norman were on their first trips crabfishing. They dynamic of a family business is different. The same can be said for Jake & josh Harris, Scotty and Axel Hillstrand. Unfortunately boats such has the Wizard and Kodiak/Cape caution have given the impression that a greenhorn is basically cheap or free labor to be used an abused. Look at how the traditional greenhorns have been treated in the Northwestern, Jake A, the guys who's name I forget from season one and Sunshine. They were all treated with dignity and respect, even after Sunshine broke the crapper. The NW does not hire a greenhorn every year for cheap labor, when they do it is to fill a need and the results seem to speak for themselves- less hassle, less drama. As too the work, she was just as effective as some of the other traditional greenhorns we have seen.

I don't think Mandy would make it on another boat. All that talk about if she could not work on the NW she would go to another boat is Disco creating a story. Does anyone here really think Sig or his wife would let Mandy work on another boat? When she wasn't being coddled, she did not do any worse than some of the other gh's.

I really didn't have a problem with Mandy being on the NW. She does tendering on the NW, so she has worked on the NW without cameras. From what has been said, she is very good when they tender. (I know it is much different that crabbing) I don't know what her future plans are. If she is truly wanting to be a deckhand, then she should try it. She would not be the first female nor the last. From what I understand, she was on the NW for a month and she lasted that long.

It was much to be expected with her dad and daughter vs. dad and son or more protective or the boat. I didn't mind watching her as much as I thought and she is likely one of the future generations who will inherited the NW. I don't see any of the Hanson's children quite as involved?

Edgar's son was also on the boat for tendering - it was shown on the special episode dedicated to the Northwestern they showed early in the season.
